JEFF MCLEAN
MIHS HEAD COACH
Graduate of Clermont HS in Clermont, FL. Graduated with Honors from The Virginia Military Instutute, BA in Economics. A three year letter-winner in Football/Track. Athletic Director for 12 years, 2 year Head Girls Track Coach, 10 year Head Boys Track Coach, 18 years as Offensive Coordinator. Served as State President and on Executive Committee for FL Athletic Coaches Association. Head Coach for South Team in 2006 Cactus Bowl, College Div 2 All-Star Game, Volunteer for 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl Season. Two years of college coaching at GA Tech and one year at University of Florida 1991 SEC Champs. MIHS Teacher of the Year in 2002.

WALTER BATTLE, JR.
Running Backs
Former Mustang Player and graduate of Long Beach State. A Running Back on two state championship teams in
1978-1979. 1978 Player of the Year. Played Full Back for Long Beach State in 1981. 1983 played Full Back for
Orlando Americans of The American Football Association (Minor League Football) 1985 played for Space Coast
Lions Semi-Pro Football.

PAT CAMPBELL
Defensive Backs
A graduate from Florida State with a MS degree and UWF with a BS degree. He has been actively involved in coaching student/athletes in various sports since 1987. He considers it an honor and privilege to teach student/athletes speed acquisition techniques and team oriented concepts. Pat is passionate about his involvement with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and teaching of Anatomy and Physiology at MIHS.

TRAVIS IRBY
Receivers
Graduate of Merritt Island High class of 2005. He was a 2-year letter winner in football, and 3-year letter
winner in baseball. 1st team all Cape Coast punter, 2003 & 2004. He was named the Offensive MVP in football,
and the Defensive MVP in baseball during his senior seasons. He was part of the 2004 11-2 District Championship team as well as a Regional Finalist in 2003 & 2004.

DAVE JACOBS
Outside Linebackers
Grew up in Merritt Island and played through the ranks of Mustang football from little league to MIHS. After graduation in 1999, attended Chowan University in NC playing strong safety, inside linebacker and special teams. Coached at Chowan University for one year under Head Coach Lou Saban and was responsible for linebackers and special teams. Post graduation from Chowan, worked as a police officer in Murfreesboro for two years. Since moving home in August 2005, has been working as a Deputy Sherriff for Brevard County Sherrif's office and is currently working towards a Masters in Management.

MIKE MARTIN
Defensive Line
Originally from Riverdale, GA, but a graduate of Rockledge High School,1998
Alumni of The University of Central Florida '05, majored in Physical Education, minor in Sports and Fitness
Currently working towards a Masters Degree at UCF in Exercise Science/Strength and Conditioning
Member of the NSCA - National Strength Coaches Association. Came from Eau Gallie High School where he coached for 4 years there. Strength and conditioning coach for Football, Track and Volleyball.

TRENT MINCH
Freshmen Head Coach
Played football and attended Port St Lucie High School. Graduated from University of Central Florida. Coached JV Football at Port St Lucie HS from '97-'98. Coached Freshman Football at Centennial HS from '00-'03. Driver's Education and Physical Education at MIHS.

ERIC REDING
Freshmen Ass't Coach
2002 Graduate of MIHS. Two year letterman and North All-Star in football, he was also a 3-year letterman in choir, including the Island Singers. A graduate of BCC, he is attending the University of Central Florida for a Political Science Degree with a minor in Coaching. A lifelong mustang, has missed four MIHS home games since he was 11 months old.
BLAINE HAYES
Freshmen Defense Coach
Merritt Island Graduate. Football player while at MIHS, and three other brothers who played as well.
Black & Gold runs in their blood.
